Our last week of our trip was spent mostly in Florence, Italy where we hung out with our friends Barbara and Kevin Macnish and did a little more sightseeing. I say "a little more" because by the time we got to Florence my brain was tired and I didn't want to do any more thinking about where to go and what to do and how to get there and where to stay and how to figure out the bus schedule and how to figure out where the cool things were... So we chilled and spent a lot of our time just walking around and exploring with very little on the agenda.

One of my favorite days of the trip was that rainy Saturday we walked a bit in the morning and spent the late afternoon watching the first half of The Return of the King, breaking for pizza at a local trattoria and watching the 2nd half after dinner. After seeing the castles and being reminded of Gondor each time, this was another great movie to see while in Europe. Furthermore, the cliffside staircase that Frodo, Sam, and Gollum go up was not at all unlike the last part of our hike up Untersburg...
